Perceptions of Spaces

The way we perceive the world is unique. These photographs represent only some of the ways I captured particular spaces.

Negative Space

This is an image of negative space. Nothing in particular stands out as a prominent object.

Positive Space

These are images of positive space. There are elements that really stand out from the background.

Separation

This image shows the separation of a single plant from a group of plants.

Inclusion

This image shows the vast area of green plants that stretch out to the distance - it includes the entire landscape.

Asymmetry

This image is asymmetric as one leg appears closer to the camera than the other leg. The angle of the camera also is angled upwards, producing an effect of going up the stairs. Hence, the photo appears to be dynamic and one can guess that the person in the photograph is climbing up the stairs

Symmetry

This image is symmetry along down the middle of the photograph.

Focal Point

This image puts the emphasis on the traffic light as its focal point. The color and the brightness contrasts the background.

This image puts the focal point on the light bulb at the front as it is illuminated and focused as its main object of the photo.

This image puts emphasis on the leaves of a tree as its focal point. I think it's interesting how the focus is on nature, which contrasts the background that appears to be buildings.

Lines

There are lines due to the brick arrangement as well as lines due to the sunlight. I like the contrast in the direction of the lines as well as the contrast of light and darkness.

I angled the camera so that the bars of light would be aligned so that the bars would get smaller as it gets farther away. There are lines from the lights and the black bars as well as lines that go from the front to the back.

This image has many lines from the outline of the building, the lines on the building, the windows, and he floor. Both the lines and the lighting causes depth in the photograph. I also like the modern look of this photo with the lines that go in different directions.

This image has lines caused by the black bars as well as the arrangement of the lightbulbs. The space between the lightbulbs get shorter as they get farther away from the camera

This image also has lines that stretch from front to back as well as lines due to the bars. These varying sizes of the lines cause depth.
